Forums
There are many
discussion forums on the Internet today, some of which are
specific to web awards. These can be very useful for
someone who is just starting out. Many of the people
in the forums have seen it all and done it all, and can
answer many of your questions. You may be surprised
what some of them will be willing to do for you.
There are many more forums on the Internet than you will
find listed here.
One word of
caution: the world of awards has many people who are
passionate, even stubborn, about what they do and how they
do it. Because of this passion, the forums can
sometimes be a little rough. Discussions may, on
occasion, become heated, insulting or offensive -- or all
three. And there are the occasional "trolls" --
people who enter the forums with the sole purpose of
causing trouble.
If you can
ride out the occasional unpleasantness and ignore the
trolls, you will find that there is a great deal that you
can learn from the forums.
Awards-Specific Forums
Assembly Forum
is run by the Awards Sites! awards-rating index.
It's a private forum, so you will have to request
membership in order to post, but you may enter as a
guest and read the posts of others.
Awards Round Table is an independently-run forum for
awards webmasters. It hasn't been all that active
recently, but is worth a look. (To look at this
one, you'll need to have a membership to DelphiForums,
which is free.)
The Board is a
very active awards forum in Germany. Most of the
discussion is in German, but there are sometimes posts
in English.
UWSAG Forum is a
fairly active forum run by the United Web Site Award
Givers awards-rating index.
